Pakistan acquired independence from British rule on 14th August , 1947. Prior to independence,the sub-continent was called India. The postal system existed through centuries vide camel couriers and government ( Kings and rulers of feudatory states) operated couriers ( runners). Both prepaid and post paid systems of sending /receiving letters and artifacts were prevailing.
The Britishers who came as traders and merchandisers , and later occupied the continent followed the same system of postal services and reformed according to British postal system. One of their Governors in Sindh province introduced prepaid postage stamps termed as "Scinde district dawk" in 1852, the Asias first postage stamps. In 1st July 1852 India became the first country in Asia and the 10th country in world to issue postage stamps, issued by the province of Scinde (a part of India ...)

Valuta:1 Rupie = 16 Annas, 1 anna = 12 Pie
Vanaf 1961 nieuwe valuta Paise (Pasia - Paisa). 1 Rupie = 100 Paise.
Zegels met die waarde-aanduiding (al dan niet opgedrukt) kunnen dan ook niet voor dat jaar zijn uitgebracht.
