Important Christ in polychrome papier-mâché with glass eyes, Neapolitan manufacturing from the 17th century (1600s). The very high quality of the execution, the expression on the face, the eyes rolled and suffering turned to the sky, the wavy draping around the pelvis, the curls on the head, as well as the overall twisting of the bust, are all elements of the early Baroque, developed down to the smallest detail. Certainly the work of a skilled craftsman from an established workshop in Naples.
Christ of exceptional quality, polychrome in very good condition and with minimal traces of wear and tear despite its age, arms are missing. All in all, an Haute Époque tasteful and impressive item.
