14 year old oak-matured Bruichladdich Islay malt was distilled in 1991 and bottled in 2005 under The Yellow Submarine label after finishing in Rioja wine casks.
This release pays homage to an MOD tagged yellow submarine that was found just a few miles from the distillery, off the coast of Islay, by a local fisherman. Now, the coastguard knew nothing about it and the MOD were reluctant to take responsibilty for it. Funny, how, just days later the submarine had mysteriously vanished. It appears there could be some interesting secrets at Bruichladdich, it was a only a few years prior that US spies were snooping on the distillery...
The Yellow Submarine is the second release in the series WMD series (Whisky of Mass Destruction), and is now highly collectible in many circles.
