Beautiful, rare, very early Art Nouveau jug.
This vase is a good example of Dutch Art Nouveau. The matte white glaze and hand-painted thin linear decoration is typical of pottery factory JB. Vet & Co. (1903-1906) - Purmerend. JB. Vet & Co was founded in 1903 by brothers Jacob and Klaas Vet. This was the third major pottery factory in Purmerend. Both brothers were proficient in art when they started their own business. Klaas had worked as a modeller for the famous Amsterdam pottery factory De Distel and Jacob worked as a painter for the Brantjes pottery factory in Purmerend. The factory burned down in April 1906 and the brothers decided to continue production in Arnhem under the name and the brand Arnhemsche Fayencefabriek.
