First edition. From the rare 1608 Italian edition published by Vrients of Ortelius’ "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum", the first modern atlas. Ortelius brought together the heterogeneous map production of his time into a single corpus laying the groundwork for an enormously successful publishing endeavour published from 1570 to 1612. A rare map derived from Magini. At the top right "Rhodiginae peninsulae descriptio" by Gaspare Bonifacio, featured here for the first time.
