Préhistorique, âge du bronze Bronze Fibule de Hallstatt - 14×7×0 cm - (1)

Préhistorique, âge du bronze Bronze Fibule de Hallstatt - 14×7×0 cm - (1)
9.-6. Jh.v.Chr.

Hallstatt spectacle fibula, Central Europe
9th - 6th century B C, length 14 cm Width 7 cm
Fibula made of round wire with two spiral discs rolled up in the opposite way. Between the spirals sits a loop in the shape of an eight. Originally, a spiral eye of the wire continued as a needle, a hook-shaped bent wire end at the other spiral eye formed the needle holder, which is missing here. Fibulae like these were common in the younger Bronze Age to the older Iron Age in south-east Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Italy and Greece.

Condition: Corrosion traces, needle and needle holder are missing, a fascinating interplay of patina colours.
Provenance: 1992 from the German art trade
